Trump's Term in Ten Pictures: Part 1

Trump threw an early tantrum over unfavorable comparisons with Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009 which had a significantly larger crowd size.   He ordered the Park Service to crop the official photos of the event in order to avoid showing all the empty space.  White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told the media it had been "the largest audience to ever see an inauguration, period."

A torch-lit rally by the far-right and white nationalists through Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017 drew comparisons with the Ku Klux Klan.  Trump condemned violence by "many sides", prompting a wave of criticism for appearing to make an equivalence between white supremacists and anti-racism protesters.

Trump embarrassed himself at the G7 summit in Canada in June 2018, when he unilaterally threatened tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.  The other leaders all threatened retaliatory measures and the rift overshadowed the proceedings.  Tensions with Trump dominated the headlines, leading to his early departure.

On a June 2018 trip to a migrant child detention center, First Lady Melania Trump was pictured wearing a jacket which read "I really don't care, do you?"  The ensuing controversy overshadowed the entire visit.

At his 2019 State of the Union, Trump laid bare his feud with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when he broke  protocol and refused her customary introduction prior to beginning his remarks.  Pelosi gave what many saw as a sarcastic clap at the end of Trump's speech, which quickly went viral.
