Trump's Term in Ten Pictures: Part 2

Trump stunned the world in June 2019 when he became the first sitting U.S. president to cross the demarcation line with North Korea. Little concrete progress was made in the negotiations and a second summit in Hanoi broke down after Trump refused Pyongyang's demands for sanctions relief.

Kim Kardashian-West speaks at a White House event about prison reform in June 2019. The reality star gained Trump's attention while campaigning for justice reform, leading to a full pardon for Alice Johnson in August 2020.

Trump staged a photo op in front of St John's Episcopal Church in June 2020 with the assistance of federal troops, who cleared peaceful protesters using pepper spray and flash-bang grenades.  His actions prompted shock and anger from many religious leaders, who accused him of using religion for political purposes.

The Trump children refused to wear face masks at the first presidential debate in Cleveland on September 29, 2020.  They broke debate rules that all spectators wear masks-- sparking the same criticism of their father for taking a cavalier attitude to the virus.  A few days after the debate, Trump tested positive himself.

Trump instigated an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol after a 70-minute address during which he exhorted them to march on Congress.  The mob ransacked the Capitol building and attempted to enter the chambers where lawmakers were hiding.  Five people, including a police officer, were killed. Trump was impeached a second time a week later.
