Jared to the Rescue!

Good news-- now that Jared Kushner has brought peace to the Middle East, he can turn his attention to saving the country from the coronavirus!

Apparently, Jared Kushner is out of Trump's dog house after he exaggerated the promise of a Google-made website for coronavirus testing, which led to Trump misrepresenting how far along the website was. A company co-founded by Josh Kushner ended up building a similar website that directs people to coronavirus testing options for the government, according to the Atlantic, but the project was scrapped.

Trump’s Thursday coronavirus briefing featured the unexpected appearance of his son-in-law, who, along with Admiral John Polowczyk and Peter Navarro tried to focus on one of the pressing issues of the crisis: The urgent need for masks, ventilators and other medical supplies.

And while there were updates on the delivery of 200,000 marks to New York and the federal government acquiring 100,000 ventilators, the effect was still one of confusion.  MSNBC's Chuck Todd commented, “before the day began, if you were to ask me, who is playing point on these supply chain issues, I thought the answer was FEMA and FEMA Administrator Peter Gaynor.  Just like there seems to be some questions about the supply chain that the rear admiral was a bit uncomfortable talking about, there seems to still be questions about, who is in charge here?”

Trump continue to deny that the federal government played a major role in obtaining PPE (despite federal officials outbidding states on the commercial market) and continued to question the magnitude of the states' requests for supplies.  Trump tweeted, “Massive amounts of medical supplies, even hospitals and medical centers, are being delivered directly to states and hospitals by the Federal Government. Some have insatiable appetites & are never satisfied (politics?). Remember, we are a backup for them.”

At the briefing, Trump again put the blame on states for not being prepared for a pandemic, as some governors have complained about having to compete against the federal government in bidding for badly needed protective gear.

Kushner, who said he is assisting Vice President Mike Pence, shockingly said, “The notion of the federal stockpile was it’s supposed to be our stockpile."  Kushner  later played the Trump blame games by saying, “Some governors you speak to or senators, and they don't know what's in their state. You have to take inventory in your own state and you have to show that there’s a real need.”

Kushner later went on to display all his newfound expertise about the public health system, saying “The N95 masks is an item that was not used as frequently in the medical profession before this.  It was used mostly for diseases.”   Righhhht, Jared . . . now hurry on home-- Ivanka wants dinner on the table when she gets off off work.

CNN and MSNBC cut back and forth from the briefing to its regular programming, even though they’ve taken some heat from the White House and the Trump campaign for doing so. But as the marathon briefing stretched to over two hours, even Fox News ended live coverage of the session to get to its coronavirus town hall.
