A 66-year-old high school cafeteria worker who failed to show up for work was found frozen in her backyard by a co-worker in southwest suburban Joliet.
According to reports, the discovery was made just before 8 a.m. Co-workers of the woman got suspicious when she failed to come to work, and didn’t answer her phone after they repeatedly tried to contact her, police said. One co-worker then went to the woman’s residence and found her deceased in the backyard.
The woman, who had a history of heart problems, worked in the cafeteria at a Joliet junior high. Police believe the woman went outside her home at some period Sunday night and, for an unknown reason, fell and froze to the ground.
“It rained [that] night, and she was frozen to the ground,” police said. A “fresh” coat of snow was found on her body.
