Bigot Boebert's Baby Boy Busted

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert is dealing with the fallout from the recent arrest of her son Tyler Boebert, who has been charged with child sexual exploitation. The crisis for the Boebert family follows years of bigoted smears from Rep. Boebert, who has attacked the LGBTQ+ community and falsely accused transgender Americans and advocates for transgender equality as child “groomers.”

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado announced 21-year-old Tyler Boebert’s arrest on Monday. The arrest was reportedly connected to a sexual video he allegedly recorded with his 17-year-old girlfriend when he was 18.  Tyler Boebert was charged with child sexual exploitation to induce or entice, possession with intent, sexual exploitation of a child, sexual exploitation of a child involving video, and two additional counts related to contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

While her son is an adult and ultimately responsible for his own actions, the serious charge within Boebert’s family stands in stark contrast to the hateful smears she has built her political career on.

Like other Republican leaders—most notably President Donald Trump— Boebert has made attacks on LGBTQ+ Americans a major focus of her political position, seeking to advance the Republican Party and the conservative agenda at the expense of a vulnerable community, particularly LGBTQ+ children and teens.

In January of last year, Boebert was involved in a major spectacle when she stalked the women’s bathroom in the Capitol alongside fellow anti-LGBTQ+ bigot Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina. Boebert complained to security that she had seen a “guy” using the facilities, as part of a crusade launched by Republicans against Delaware Rep. Sarah McBride, the first openly transgender member of Congress. Ultimately there was no “guy” in the women’s bathroom.

Republicans have often smeared transgender women as sexual predators in relation to bathroom access, even though women are far more likely to be assaulted by cisgender men—like Trump.

In 2022, Boebert argued that the use of LGBTQ+-inclusive flash cards in school were evidence “the left is grooming our kids,” injecting the specter of sexual activity over an innocent educational exercise. That year she also insisted that the existence of drag queen story time in schools was about “grooming” children.

That same year, Boebert also chose to misgender then-Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, who is transgender, and argued that efforts under the Biden administration to assist transgender children were an effort to “groom” them.

Perhaps Rep. Boebert should have been paying more attention to the behavior occurring within her family instead of using her power as a public figure to smear and attack millions of innocent American families.
